UPDATE: USPTO Still Needs Survey Responses
Issue No. 71 of this newsletter reported that the Office of Enrollment and Discipline ("OED") at the United States Patent and Trademark Office ("USPTO") is requiring responses to survey letters that were mailed under  37 C.F.R. 10.11(b) to the active registered practitioners whose registrations numbers are 33,211 through 39,486. On May 19, 2003, the USPTO published the names and last known business addresses of the more than 1500 practitioners that failed to provide the requested information as of May 8, 2003.  That information is now available on the Internet at http://www.uspto.gov/web/

Delinquents who fail to reply on or before July 3, 2003 will be removed from the register and required to pay the $40 fee set forth in 37 C.F.R. § 1.21(a)(3) for reinstatement.  Moreover, only registered practitioners are permitted to prosecute patent applications of others before the USPTO under 37 C.F.R.  §10.10.
