PCT Newsletter Highlights for March 2004

Here are some of the highlights of the March 2004 issue of the Patent Cooperation Treaty "PCT Newsletter" that is now available at http://www.wipo.int/pct/en/newslett/2004/pdf/03_2004.pdf.

Internet Presentation on Recent Amendments to PCT Regulations

WIPO has produced a 20-minute video presentation outlining the amendments to the PCT Regulations which entered into force on January 1, 2004, including information on the enhanced international search and preliminary examination system, the new designation system, and changes to file access. The video can be viewed online in three different formats, depending on your connection speed, from the"New on the PCT website" box on the PCT homepage at http://www.wipo.int/pct/en/index.html.

PCT Withdrawal Forms Posted

The new "Notice of Withdrawal" Form PCT/IB/372 is now available in editable PDF format in English and French at http://www.wipo.int/pct/en/forms/ib/index.htm and http://www.wipo.int/pct/fr/forms/ib/index.htm. This form can be used for the withdrawal of international applications, designations, priority claims, demands, and elections.

PCT International Search and International Preliminary Examination Guidelines

Revised versions of the PCT International Search and International Preliminary Examination Guidelines will be published on March 25, 2004 in a special issue of the "PCT Gazette" available at http://www.wipo.int/pct/en/gazette/index.jsp.

30-Month Time Limits Still Not Adopted by All States

The designated offices of the following states do not yet apply the 30-month time limit fixed in PCT Article 22(1): Brazil (BR), Switzerland (CH), Finland (FI), Luxembourg (LU), Sweden (SE), United Republic of Tanzania (TZ), Uganda (UG), Serbia and Montenegro (YU), and Zambia (ZM).
